Ingredients

  • 2 packed cups fresh spinach (or 1 cup frozen spinach)
  • 1 medium ripe banana (fresh or frozen; frozen makes it creamier)
  • 1 cup frozen berries (blueberries, strawberries, or a mix)
  • 1 tablespoon nut or seed butter (peanut, almond, or sunflower)
  • 1 scoop protein powder (vanilla or unflavored; optional but helpful for fullness)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds or ground flax (for fiber and omega-3s)
  • 1 to 1 1/4 cups liquid (your choice: almond milk, dairy milk, oat milk, or coconut water)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for warmth and flavor)
  • Ice as needed (especially if you’re using fresh fruit)
  • Optional add-ins: Greek yogurt for extra creaminess, a splash of vanilla, a drizzle of honey or dates for extra sweetness, or a pinch of salt to brighten flavor

Method

  1. Add liquids first. Pour your milk or coconut water into the blender. This helps everything move smoothly and prevents clumps.
  2. Layer the greens. Add the spinach on top of the liquid. Press it down lightly so it blends evenly without sticking to the sides.
  3. Add fruit and creaminess. Drop in the banana and frozen berries. If you like a thicker smoothie, use frozen banana or add a handful of ice.
  4. Boost with protein and fiber. Add protein powder, chia or flax, and your nut or seed butter. These give the smoothie staying power.
  5. Season it. Sprinkle in cinnamon, and add a splash of vanilla if you want a subtle dessert-like vibe.
  6. Blend until silky. Start low, then increase speed. Blend 45–60 seconds until completely smooth. If it’s too thick, add a bit more liquid. If it’s too thin, add a few ice cubes or extra frozen fruit.
  7. Taste and adjust. Need more sweetness? Add a small date or a drizzle of honey. Want more brightness? A squeeze of lemon can wake it up.
  8. Serve right away. Pour into a glass or lidded to-go cup. If you like a crunch, sprinkle granola or crushed nuts on top.
